The world of atlantis

The lost city of Atlantis is breaking down. Bit by bit the dome, that has kept the city a secret from the world above and safe from the perils of the water around them, is beginning to falter. The technology is no longer enough to keep the city afloat. Without the proper steps being taken, the city will fall and be devoured by the sea that has hidden them for all these years.

Riley Wilkes | 22 | Coterie member | FC: Thomas Dekker | OPEN
Background: Riley is the youngest child of three children who were born and raised in the poorest part of the Slums. Despite having both parents, he was basically raised by his older siblings seeing as their parents were constantly working. He learned early on in his life not to trust the Elders. To him and his family it is the Elder’s fault that there is such a big distinction between the two social classes. As a result, practically everything he does is meant to be a way to help aid in the downfall of the Elder’s. One of the main ways he contributes to this is with the blog he openly runs. In addition to the slanderous posts on his blog, he actively showcases anti-government graffiti on every surface he can. All he wants to do is ensure a life of utter hardship for the Elder’s if the Coterie is able to overthrow them.
Personality: Riley is seen as nothing more than a ‘bad boy’. It is an image he has worked so hard to perfect and one he is more than willing to live up to. He is often found at the center of whatever trouble there seems to be. As well as being the city’s biggest trouble maker, he is also quite pessimistic. He sees only the worst in everything and everyone, minus his siblings, causing him to have hardly any friends. The few friends he does have are all very similar in personality and temperament. To everyone who doesn’t know him, he comes off as callous and short tempered. He doesn’t know how to make a good impression on anyone and is often unable to fully realize when he is being too harsh on someone. He can be very passionate about many things. The most important being his work with the Coterie.
Occupation: Cafeteria Janitor.
Family: Riley’s family consists of his older brother, Victor, and his older sister, Amanda, as well as their parents. As a result of living in the poorest part of the Slums, they have a very close family bond. The three children do practically everything together, including becoming members of the Coterie. While his other siblings have managed to move out of their childhood home, Riley stayed behind to help his parents.

A crack has appeared in the Dome surrounding the city. It first appeared a few hours after the artificial lights began turning on. It has spread slowly, its reach now in both the wealthier part of Atlantis and the Slums. Slowly water is beginning to seep through the cracks, creating a small puddle as time ticks by slowly. The first person to notice the crack was Caspian Patterson. Despite his prejudice towards the Elders, he rushed to inform them of the situation only to have them laugh in his face and tell him he was a horrible liar.
As the citizens begin to wake and start their days they begin to notice something is different within the city. The atmosphere is damper than usual and it seems as if a sort of fog has begun to cover the city. When the first people notice the crack, a sense of panic begins to settle upon the city. It isn’t until the majority of the city is out and about that true panic sets in. Worried only about their immediate family members, all citizens rush to the Council building demanding answers. During the stampede, many people are injured and some even go missing. Once people begin streaming into the building, the Elder’s quickly realize that they have a riot on their hands and send out the Atlantean police to stop the panic. However, despite their efforts they are too late and are instead ordered to keep everyone inside the large building while accessing the damages caused by the riot.
Facts:
Twenty or more people are in the hospital with injuries ranging from a sprained ankle to a coma.
Please read the rules on the para prompt page.

Kyle Burnes | 22 | Coterie Member | FC: Joe Dempsie | OPEN
Background: Kyle is one of the younger members of the Coterie. He was pulled into the Coterie soon after its foundation. He is one of the unfortunate citizens to live in the slums of Atlantis. As the years have gone by, Kyle’s family has seen the decline of the city. When Kyle was younger, his family lived in a larger house in the same part of the city. There used to be no slums in Atlantis, but since the Council of Elders started putting stricter restrictions on jobs, many of the less educated population, like Kyle’s parents have lost their jobs and have been forced to go deeper into the slums which meant that Kyle had to drop out of college early to get a job to help support his family. When Phillip approached him to join the Coterie, he didn’t hesitate. Tension between him and his father began to rise not long after he received the job. His father did not like the fact that he was the one working for the family.
Personality: He is one of the sweetest guys you will ever meet. He doesn’t have much luck with the ladies and is constantly being friend-zoned, but he is holding out hope that just because he lives in the slums it won’t mean that he is always going to be alone. Even though he is lonely, he tries his best to be happy for him and his family. Being the breadwinner in the family has put a lot of stress on Kyle, so he tends to get frustrated a lot, causing him to have angry outbursts. However, nine times out of ten of those outbursts, he will apologize. The girls in the Coterie do nothing for him because he feels like they are all bitches who think they are better than everyone, because they think they are doing good things. Maybe a girl who isn’t into the politics of Atlantis will turn the head of this soft-spoken citizen. If you are one of his friends, he would go out his way to help you. Kyle is one of those people who is honest, but tends to sugar coat things so that he does not hurt anyone.
Occupation: Slums Engineer.
Family: Ever since he started to support the family, he and his father have not been on good terms, but Kyle is determined not to let the bond between get destroyed due to his father’s pride. However, after a few months of the horrible treatment from his father he decided to move out, causing his mother to plead him to stay. He made a promise that he would come and live with them after he had a break. It has been over six months that he had said that and, despite his mother continuing to ask him to move back, Kyle refuses. He loved his family dearly, but he also enjoyed his independence. Things are getting a little better with his father. From his perspective, at least they are talking now.

Callum Gallagher | 24 | Coterie Member | FC: Harry Lloyd | OPEN
Background: Callum is known as one of the easiest going members of the Coterie. He grew up in the main part of the city, where things are still pretty nice. He often makes them seem less heavy than they are, to the point where he almost didn’t join the Coterie. It took a lot of coaxing by some of the other members, including Caspian, to make him see how bad things really were in their fair city. They took him to the uninhabitable part of Atlantis, which is normally sealed off to the public for “renovations.” He has been a Coterie member for the last six months, but prior to that, he was part of a similar group that dissipated called The Fall-referring to the way the government was going to fall if the people discovered what they were trying to hide. For the past six months his life has been revolved around the Coterie and finding his father.
Personality: He does not take much seriously, and usually makes fun of what is serious. He is headstrong, and doesn’t like being told what to do. Callum does not work well in groups unless he is forced into them. Being a handsome man, Callum has always been a ladies’ man. He has broken many a heart, and he doesn’t really care how many people he’s hurt. He doesn’t treat women the way they should be treated, and while some of them find his asshole tendency to be charming, others have been known to throw a drink in his face or slap him. If he wants something he will do whatever he has to get it as he is a very determined individual. But like everyone else he has flaws, his main one is his anger problem, another is his lack of patience.
Occupation: He has no time for a job as he spends all of his time either attempting to recruit new members or running errands for the Coterie.
Family: Callum is an only child, and was raised by a single mother who never told him who his father was. It was hard for him growing up without both parents when nearly everyone around him had both. It took him a long time to understand why his mother never told him. She eventually caved and told him that it was a man who was a drunk and her parents told her that if she wanted any help raising Callum, she would keep the child away from him. That hasn’t prevented Callum from searching for his estranged father despite his mother’s warnings. He moved out as soon as he was old enough, now living in an apartment in the Slums. His mother disapproves of his choices, but he does not let it show that affects him.

The only thing that I have made is the newer character graphics; they are the ones with their names on them. However my friend made the gifs and another friend made the promo graphic for me. I hope that made sense.

Blane Mahoney | 20 | Allegiance Member | FC: Dylan O’Brien | OPEN
Background: Raised in the rich area of Atlantis, there Blane grew up comfortably with his parents. He was raised to believe that the Elders are doing everything that they can to help the city. Still, being allowed to do whatever he pleases, Blane often wandered to the Slums. By doing that he befriended a number of residents of the Slums. Quickly he was awakened to how the Elders truly treated all the inhabitants of Atlantis. This made him realize that perhaps things are not black and white as his parents had leaded him to believe, he began to form his own ideas. Seeing the vast differences between the Slums and his own part of Atlantis had him torn between remaining part of the Allegiance, or listen to his heart and switch over to the Coterie. The reason behind him wanting to switch to the Coterie was that he could hopefully bring change to Atlantis.
Personality: Blane is one of the easiest going guys, known commonly as the jokester by those who know him. Fluent in sarcasm he can reply back to any sort of question within a matter of seconds. Though as soon as it comes down to any other form of communication he is often left standing there not knowing what to say. Despite this he is quite fun to be around. He is constantly surrounded by the many friends he has made in the wealthier side of the town. Not knowing what else to do with his life he puts all of his energy into entertaining them. Leaving the things that he needs to do uncompleted, this has caused him to be fired from many jobs. Many people have said that he would accomplish great things if he could just focus on the task that needed done rather than living to please his friends.  Due to him being spoiled he tends to brag about his most prized possessions, making him come off as being spoilt and rude.
Occupation: Blane does not currently have a job, though his parents are beginning to push him to find one. He is interested in learning more about computer technology in order to get access to the main power source of Atlantis. Ever since he was a child he was curious to see what it looked like. As much as his parents attempted to get him access to get to look at it The Elders would not allow it.
Family: Blane is the only child of his parents, because of this he was spoiled, and he still is. Both of his parents are members of the Allegiance and are the main reason why he joined. They lavish attention on him and allow him to do whatever he wants. Though they are not always around they have had a direct effect on his opinions and political views. He still lives with them, not wanting to move in case they were to grow apart.
